Technique, Creativity, Teaching
Why TaCt soccer?
There are many amazing coaches in the area. However, even great coaches don’t have time during team practices to get to all of the technical training that players need in their toolbox.
In addition, lately I have seen many talented youth soccer players who have amazing athletic potential that are being held back because of technical deficiencies. Many coaches bi-pass teaching simple techniques in favor of moving straight to more advanced concepts.
We are trying to fill these gaps by offering affordable training.
This is not our livelihood, so we can charge more reasonable prices, we do this just to try to grow the quality of youth soccer in the area.
We believe that proper technique is extremely important to every soccer player. However, we also believe that encouraging creativity and inspiring confidence are an important part in soccer training.
My background: I have coached select soccer at multiple levels from U11 through U17 as well as being a high school assistant and goalkeeper coach. I have coached teams in Wisconsin as well as Indiana and Idaho. Many of the players I have coached have gone on to play at the college level at all divisions; more importantly most of the players have played in high school and enjoyed their high school experience. Growing up I played for multiple select teams throughout the Milwaukee area, as well as being named all conference all four years in high school. I also played at UW-Parkside.
Testimonials:
“I played for Dave Welsch with the Cutters Soccer Club in Bloomington, Indiana.
When he took over our team, I was a player that lacked confidence and was unsure of how I fit into the squad. Like many young players, I was wandering and looking for guidance in my formative years. Coach Welsch helped me find my role on the field, gain confidence in my abilities, and progress as both a player and as a person.
In reflecting on my playing career at the club, high school, and college levels, followed by over a decade of coaching and serving as a club director at Portland City United, I know that I was a better player, student, team-mate, coach, friend, and eventually father because of the life lessons I learned under Coach Welsch's leadership.”
Shaun Figueiredo (former Division II soccer player at The University of Indianapolis and Technical Director at Portland City United Soccer Club)
“My son has trained under coach Dave for about a year now. During that time span, he has gone from being on the third team to now being on the top team. Most recently, he accepted an early offer from his current soccer club to be on the MLS Next team for the next soccer season. My son has told me how much fun he has at the trainings yet feels challenged and motivated.”
